I began my journey in massage and healing arts at the Brenneke School of massage in Seattle, graduating in 1996. I consider my work as a continual unfolding art, combining a variety of healing techniques that are offered according to the individual needs of each client. I provide a flowing, nurturing massage, utilizing multiple modalities that I have gathered along my educational path, including: Swedish, deep tissue, reflexology, maternity, myofascial, aromatherapy, Lomi Lomi, and Esalen.

In my career as a massage therapist, I have experience working in a variety of settings: With a chiropractor, a naturopath, an aromatherapy center, and for 21 years at a major spa. All of these experiences have influenced my evolution and work. My connection with the people I work with is very important to me, and my intention is for you to feel nurtured, listened to, relieved of pain, and relaxed in body and mind. I feel at home in the environment at Green Leaf Massage, where I can offer you my most authentic work. I am delighted to be here!

Ruth knew immediately that she wanted to learn the craft of massage therapy when she received her first massage at the age of 23. She then studied massage therapy and practiced as a licensed massage therapist in her hometown of Honolulu for the next 27 years. Ruth moved to Mukilteo with her family in 2016 and was licensed in Washington a year later.
Over the course of her career, Ruth has studied numerous modalities including Swedish, Lomi-Lomi, Myofascial Release, Thai massage, Visceral Manipulation, and intra-oral massage. She is also certified as an Anatomy Trains Structural Integration (ATSI) practitioner and a Guild Certified Feldenkrais PractitionerTM, which she considers central to her work as a somatic educator. Both ATSI and the Feldenkrais MethodTM help to improve posture and function by addressing long-held patterns in the muscles and connective tissues that the body adopts in response to injury or chronic tension.

Ruth enjoys the challenge of matching her diverse skills to a client’s needs. She views each massage session as a journey toward well-being that practitioner and client embark on together. She believes the best massages involve a variety of pressures and techniques that address discoveries made along the way.
